Miles was our first baby, and a beautiful little boy. He was with us for such a short time, just five weeks, and was taken tragically too soon. We will love him always and miss him every day.
It was found that Miles had developed a Thyreoglossal duct cyst at the base of his tongue. Over his short life he slowly suffocated, despite many trips to the doctor and hospital - he was misdiagnosed and died as a result of the staff's lack of investigation. My advice to any parent out there; if you know there is something wrong with your child, don't take no for an answer and press for more diagnosis if you are not happy.
Had a full investigation of Miles's airway taken place, our little boy would still be with us.

Before this world had started,
Before our lives began.
God assigned us all our challenges,
Some hard things to withstand.
Each of us were given,
Some difficult things to do.
But God gave his bravest warriors,
An extra burden too.
So you came to this earth in a body,
Broken and quite ill.
But life could never take from you,
A solid, determined will.
You kept your face turned toward the sunshine,
Trapped in a body that only knew rain,
And chose to see the joys in life,
In spite of all the pain.
And though your body was oft' connected,
To needles, machines and tubes.
You bravely faced each day with them,
While expressing gratitude.
For the chance of simply being here,
